Eisenkot on the injury he sustained in the IDF: "I took a bullet to the head, in Golani it's an advantage"

Gadi Eisenkot recounted in a podcast the injury where a MAG bullet penetrated his forehead during an IDF exercise, and told of his rapid recovery and the humor surrounding the incident. Alongside this, he recalled his longing for his fallen son Gal.

Chairman of the "Yashar!" party and former IDF Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot shared personal stories from his military service on the podcast "Slicha Merosh" by All in. He recounted an incident where a MAG bullet penetrated his forehead during an exercise as a young soldier, was evacuated to Soroka Hospital in serious condition, and recovered within two to three weeks. Eisenkot humorously said, "In Golani it's an advantage, it gives you an open mind for the rest of life." Alongside this, he admitted the injury left him with lingering effects that accompanied him throughout his service, and he would put a flak jacket on his face when coordinating machine guns. Later, he recalled his longing for his son Gal, who fell in the war, and said Gal did not like military life and used to laugh at the strict discipline.
