A family of six, a couple and their four children, residents of Gush Etzion, were rescued this evening (Tuesday) after being stranded with their vehicles during a field trip in eastern Gush Etzion, near the village of Za'atara. The family was in the area descending to the desert plateau when floods developed there, raising concerns they would be in distress. Volunteers from the police rescue unit Etzion-Yehuda were called to the scene, and with the assistance of military forces that secured the operation, located the family and rescued them using 4x4 vehicles. All six were rescued safely and without needing medical treatment. The rescue unit noted that this was the third rescue in which its volunteers operated during the day, since the floods began in the Judean Desert streams, and in all incidents there were no casualties.
