Dr. Haim Assa: 2026 Elections – On Vaccines and Strategies
Dr. Haim Assa argues that Gadi Eisenkot's campaign failed in preventive treatment of Trump's support for Netanyahu, and warns that victory depends on the two Arab parties managing to represent 14 mandates or more.
Dr. Haim Assa, the campaign strategist for Yitzhak Rabin in 1992, argues that Gadi Eisenkot's campaign failed in preventive treatment of the intervention of US President Donald Trump, who expressed open support for Benjamin Netanyahu. According to Assa, Trump said that if Netanyahu is not elected, the US will leave Israel alone against Iran, which could affect potential Eisenkot voters. Assa criticizes the Eisenkot team for not performing a proactive 'vaccination', comparing the situation to the strategy that succeeded for Rabin in 1992. He estimates that the bloc will not exceed 49-50 mandates, and therefore victory depends on the two Arab parties managing to represent 14 mandates or more. Assa suggests that Eisenkot close a deal with the Arab parties and adopt a calming strategy in the style of Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, while warning of a deterioration in the standard of living if Israel continues with a strategy of confrontation against seven enemies.
