A 26-year-old Brazilian woman, Renata Rebecca Negrão Saldanha dos Santos, was killed after falling from the seventh floor of the Rio Poty hotel in São Luís, Brazil. Security cameras captured her final moments: she sat on a windowsill in the hotel corridor and leaned back, and the aluminum frame gave way, causing her to fall to her death. Her partner, who was beside her, remained stunned at the scene. The two had come to the city to participate in a poker tournament and were supposed to return home that same day. Police are investigating whether a safety defect in the building caused the disaster. The partner was questioned and released and is not considered a suspect.
