Senior Sephardic Rabbi in Rare Interview: "The Holy One, Blessed Be He, Wanted a Small Shas, and for There to Be Unity"

Rabbi Moshe Maya, the oldest member of Shas's Council of Torah Sages, said in an interview with Kan News that the Holy One, Blessed Be He, wanted a small Shas to force unity, and that Benjamin Netanyahu has no possibility of forming a government alone. He also addressed the draft law and argued that the concept of equal burden does not exist according to faith.

Rabbi Moshe Maya, the oldest member of Shas's Council of Torah Sages, was interviewed this morning on the program of Omri Assenheim and Liel Kaiser on Kan News and addressed the party's electoral collapse. According to him, "The Holy One, Blessed Be He, wanted a small Shas so there would be an explosion, and Bibi has no possibility of forming a government alone - therefore he will go for unity." Rabbi Maya argued that if Shas had received its mandates, the situation would have remained the same and baseless hatred would have continued. He added that the Holy One, Blessed Be He, wants to build a Third Temple and bring the Messiah. Regarding the Council of Torah Sages' announcement yesterday, he said they asked Aryeh Deri not to leave the party leadership. Rabbi Maya also addressed the draft law and argued that the concept of equal burden does not exist according to faith, and that harming Torah scholars harms divine assistance in the war.
