Disengagement and annexation or political separation – the State of Israel must decide

In a special project by MIND Israel, Yesha Council Chairman Israel Gantz and Kibbutz Movement Secretary General Lior Simcha present two opposing worldviews for Israel's future: Gantz calls for dismantling the Palestinian Authority, annexing Judea and Samaria, and applying sovereignty, while Simcha emphasizes the need for defensible borders, pursuing peace, and strengthening Israeli society from within.

In a special project by MIND Israel, which focuses on existential threats to Israel, two opposing positions regarding the country's future were presented. Yesha Council Chairman Israel Gantz calls for dismantling the Palestinian Authority and applying Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. According to him, the Oslo Accords must be abolished, the armed mechanisms of the Authority dismantled, and sovereignty applied over about 80% of the territory, while granting civil self-government to Arab cities. Gantz argues that "a line on a map does not protect a country" and that settlements are the country's security belt. In contrast, Kibbutz Movement Secretary General Lior Simcha presents a different approach. Simcha emphasizes the need for defensible borders, along with pursuing political arrangements and peace. He warns of the danger of internal disintegration and calls for strengthening Israeli society, investing in the periphery, reducing gaps, and sharing the burden. Simcha stresses that "the surest guarantee for the security of the Jewish people in its land is peace." The project presents the two approaches as a decision Israel must make.
