Expert testifies in A.K.'s trial: "Adir Habani's DNA profile is very rare"
In the defamation lawsuit filed by Ola Kravchenko ("A.K.") against Adir Habani, Yarum Halevi, and the creators of 'Shadow of Truth', Dr. Nurit Bubilil, a DNA expert from the Institute of Forensic Medicine, testified that Habani's mitochondrial DNA profile is very rare, with a probability of 1 in 300,000 people. She stated that the profile of Tair Rada is common, and context is decisive.
In another hearing held today (Thursday) in the defamation lawsuit of Ola Kravchenko ("A.K.") against Adir Habani, Yarum Halevi, and the creators of the series "Shadow of Truth", Dr. Nurit Bubilil, a DNA expert and head of the laboratory at the Institute of Forensic Medicine, testified for the defense. Bubilil said that Habani's mitochondrial DNA profile is "very, very unique," in contrast to Tair Rada's profile, which is common. She added that if the same mitochondrial DNA had belonged to Roman Zadorov, the prosecution would not have said it could match many people. According to her, the updated data she presented shows a match of 1 in 300,000 people. The expert emphasized that even with full nuclear DNA, one cannot say beyond a shadow of a doubt that it is a specific person, as this is not accepted scientific terminology. Habani claims that Kravchenko wore his clothes during the murder, which may explain the presence of his hairs on her body.
