The Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education announced that 18 students and teachers were martyred in the Gaza Strip last October due to ongoing Israeli violations. In its monthly report published on Tuesday, the ministry stated that 14 children and school students were martyred as a result of shelling, gunfire, and direct targeting, while the report documented the martyrdom of four teachers working in the public education sector: Mahmoud Qaffa, Wael Muslim, Diaa Abu al-Rous, and Ahmed Abu Odeh. The report also noted the martyrdom of three employees of the Islamic University: Shadi Abu Ataya, Sami Baroud, and Ashraf Dahlan, following the bombing of the university while students were present, which also resulted in injuries. The academic at the University of Palestine, Dr. Yasmine al-Boubou, was martyred due to the bombing of a residential apartment. The report recorded injuries among students, children, and workers in the educational sector as a result of aerial and artillery bombardment and gunfire, including the targeting of schools and alternative educational tents. Gunfire near areas adjacent to the so-called "Yellow Line" led to the suspension or delay of studies in several areas, especially south of Khan Younis and east of Deir al-Balah.
