Despite indecency charge: Dr. Leonid Zeitlin will continue to practice medicine

The Ministry of Health has ruled that Dr. Leonid Zeitlin, a renowned bone disease specialist, will not have his license suspended despite an indictment for an indecent act against a medical secretary and two additional complaints. Restrictions were imposed: treatment only with a staff member present or via video calls. The prosecution and the complainants sharply criticized the decision.

The Ministry of Health decided not to suspend the license of Dr. Leonid Zeitlin, a renowned bone disease specialist, despite a serious indictment filed against him in May for an indecent act against a medical secretary at a clinic in Modi'in Illit. The victim is a young Haredi woman with a disability who was also his patient. Additionally, it was revealed by Kan News that two additional complaints have been filed against him with the police by former patients, which have not yet been investigated. The committee ruled that Zeitlin may continue to practice medicine under strict restrictions: remote treatment only via video calls, or in-person treatment at a public institution in the presence of an additional staff member, subject to a written commitment from the institution's director. Zeitlin's attorney stated that he denies the offenses and will return to work as an excellent doctor. In contrast, the attorney representing the additional complainants called the decision "a disgrace to the medical system" and argued that it humiliates the victims. The Ministry of Health defended the decision, citing the totality of circumstances.
