The Poison Libel: Ofer Cassif Accused – The Farm Owner Responded
MK Ofer Cassif published a video showing Jewish shepherds feeding goats a black liquid and claimed it was intentional poisoning. The farm owner, Eviatar Karo, responded that the liquid is a mixture of charcoal and water given to treat livestock suspected of being poisoned by Arabs in the area. The police have opened an investigation.
MK Ofer Cassif of the Joint List published a video on X yesterday (Sunday) showing Jewish shepherds feeding goats a black liquid, claiming it was a deliberate attempt to poison the animals and blame the local Arab population. Cassif called those filmed "Jewish terrorists" and "death dealers." In response, Eviatar Karo, owner of the Metzudat David farm from which the herd originated, rejected the claim and explained that the liquid is a mixture of charcoal and water given to the livestock in an attempt to help them cope with a toxic substance they ingested in the pasture. Karo claimed that Arabs in the area hide poison inside pitas and dates and scatter them in the field to harm the herd. According to him, four sheep have died and additional animals were affected. The police announced they have opened an investigation following a report of harm to animals near the farm. Karo said this is the fourth incident in which the herd, numbering about 100 goats, has been affected. Last August, a similar incident was reported in which two goats began foaming at the mouth after eating pieces of pita with a substance suspected to be poison. The article presents Karo's version and the police response, but does not include Cassif's response to the explanation.
