Defense Ministry Chief Baram pushes munitions independence during visit to Covenant

Defense Ministry Director General Amir Baram visited defense-tech company Covenant to discuss munitions independence. Covenant emerged from stealth last month and produces the Anthem missile system. Denmark announced it would procure Anthem earlier in October.

Defense Ministry Director General Maj.-Gen. (res.) Amir Baram visited Covenant, an Israeli defense-tech company, on Thursday as part of a series of visits to defense companies. The visit focused on strengthening Israel's munitions independence, expanding the production base, and preserving the qualitative and technological edge. Baram said the ministry's policy is to encourage both defense-tech companies and start-ups, and that Israel must look ahead to an intense security decade. Covenant, which has operations in the US, Germany, and Israel, emerged from stealth last month. Its flagship system, Anthem, is built to deliver heavy payloads at extended ranges. The company aims to produce 1,000 Anthem missiles in 2027. Denmark announced earlier in the month that it would procure Anthem.
