Contractors Union raises readiness of Gaza companies with "ISO" standards
The Palestinian Contractors Union organized a workshop on international quality management systems to enhance the knowledge of contracting companies about international standards and raise their readiness for upcoming recovery and reconstruction projects.
The Palestinian Contractors Union organized on Sunday a workshop titled "International Quality Management Systems," aimed at enhancing the knowledge of contracting companies about international standards and raising their readiness for upcoming recovery and reconstruction projects. The workshop was presented by engineer Musa al-Astal, an international expert in ISO quality management systems, who reviewed the key standards relevant to the contracting sector, their application requirements, and the benefits they provide to companies. The union's executive director, engineer Ahmed Abu Ras, emphasized the importance of enhancing knowledge of international systems and standards. The workshop covered three main systems: ISO 9001 for quality management, ISO 14001 for environmental management, and ISO 45001 for occupational health and safety. It discussed the requirements for applying these systems, including quality control, procurement and suppliers, construction waste management, pollution reduction, resource conservation, work risk assessment, and providing training and protective equipment. Participants affirmed that the integrated application of quality systems contributes to building more organized, sustainable, and ready contracting companies. The workshop stressed that obtaining an ISO certificate is not a goal in itself, but its importance lies in implementing an effective management system.
