Composer and radio editor Gilad Ben Shach passes away at 85

Composer and radio program editor Gilad Ben Shach passed away today at the age of 85. Ben Shach, born in Gedera in 1941, began his musical career in the 1960s, composing and translating songs, served as the first music editor of "Bahatzi Hayom" and managed the entertainment department of Reshet Gimel. His funeral will be held tomorrow in Gedera.

Composer and radio program editor Gilad Ben Shach passed away today (Thursday) at the age of 85. His funeral will be held tomorrow at the Gedera cemetery at 11:30 AM. Ben Shach was born in Gedera in 1941. He began his musical career in the 1960s, composing and translating songs for various performers, including the duo "Ilan and Ilanit." In 1969, he joined the staff of "Kol Israel" and worked on "Gal HaKal." He was the first music editor of the current affairs program "Bahatzi Hayom," and edited additional programs including "Keset Ve'afarkeset" and "Oti Ze Matzhik." With the establishment of Reshet Gimel in June 1976, he was appointed head of the station's entertainment department. During his years in radio, he edited a variety of programs and broadcasts, including "Al Batuch," "Zemer Shekazeh," "Agadat Deshe," "Matok Me'az," and "Yelid Ha'aretz." He was also responsible for editing special broadcasts, including "Mitz'ad Hamitz'adim" and marathons dedicated to the ensemble "Hagashash Hahiver." In 1998, he was selected to serve as a member of the judging committee for the Israel Prize in the field of Hebrew song.
