Competitors admit: Filber was right – while other pollsters missed it
Shlomo Filber, a pollster for Channel 14, receives recognition from competitors after his polls predicted significantly higher numbers for the right-wing bloc than other channels. With 60.2% of the votes counted, the coalition stands at 56 seats, and journalists like Amit Segal and Itamar Cohen admitted that Filber was closest to reality.
For months, Channel 14 pollster Shlomo Filber stood almost alone against most polling institutes in Israel. While competing channels gave the right-wing bloc around 50 seats, Filber's polls indicated a much larger bloc. With the closing of polling stations and the start of vote counting, it became clear that Filber identified the trend before everyone else. In Channel 14's sample, Filber gave the right-wing bloc 60 seats, compared to 50 in some competing samples. According to the latest update, after counting about 60.2% of the votes, the current coalition stands at 56 seats. Even his critics were forced to admit: journalist Itamar Cohen wrote "Israel Prize for Media to Shlomo Filber," and Yossi Elitov admitted "We all must apologize to Momo Filber." Amit Segal referred to the gap and wrote that it was "Yom Kippur for most pollsters."
