A magistrate's court ordered the release of Shai (Shaul) Sasi, a known criminal from Netanya, under restrictive conditions, after the police requested to extend his detention by five days. Sasi was arrested on suspicion of involvement in two arsons, but the judge ruled that no reasonable suspicion of the required intensity was presented. During his investigation, Sasi denied the allegations and claimed he was abroad at the time of the events, presenting an alibi. His attorney, Adv. Vicky Shmuel, argued that despite the alibi, the police decided to bring him to court. The release conditions prohibit Sasi from entering Netanya and contacting the complainant for two weeks. Sasi is well known to the police, and his name has been linked in the past to several criminal investigations, including suspicion of involvement in explosive device incidents, but he was released due to lack of evidence. In February of this year, Sasi was stabbed in the shin in Tira as part of a criminal conflict.
