British police charge man with preparing terrorist acts against Reform UK's Nigel Farage

British police have charged 28-year-old Joshua Kerry with preparing terrorist acts, including against Reform UK leader Nigel Farage, between May 2024 and July 2026. Kerry is already accused of murdering former minister Ann Widdecombe, a prominent Reform UK figure found dead in July 2026. He is due in court on Wednesday.

British police announced on Friday that Joshua Kerry, 28, has been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation for terrorist acts between May 2024 and July 2026, with the charges relating in part to Reform UK leader Nigel Farage. Kerry is already facing accusations of murdering former minister Ann Widdecombe, 78, a prominent Reform UK figure who was found dead at her home in rural southwest England on July 9 after being attacked the day before. Prosecutors said Widdecombe was struck 21 times with a hammer. The killing shocked British politics and raised concerns about politicians' security. Kerry, from Rotherham in northern England, is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday. Senior National Coordinator for Counter Terrorism Policing Vicki Evans described the investigation as hugely intensive and complex. Reform lawmaker Richard Tice wrote on X that the charges show why Farage needs money for security. Farage is currently facing a parliamentary investigation over a £5 million gift from a billionaire cryptocurrency investor, which he said was necessary for his security. Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood said the charges were extremely concerning and raised serious questions about the security of those in public life.
