Blitz moves planned by the Change Bloc - and the fear: MKs will rebel against canceling the judicial overhaul

The Change Bloc is preparing for the day after the elections and planning rapid moves: replacing the Knesset Speaker and halting the judicial overhaul laws. There is concern within the bloc that some new MKs will oppose canceling the laws due to their support for the coalition's legislation.

Even before voting begins in the 2026 elections, the Change Bloc is preparing for the day after and planning a series of rapid parliamentary moves. These steps include replacing the Knesset Speaker and stopping the entry into force of significant laws enacted by the coalition concerning the judicial system, including the Attorney General's Law, the Police Internal Investigations Department Law, and the Judicial Selection Committee Law. However, concern has arisen within the bloc that some new MKs on lists supporting laws initiated by the Netanyahu government will not lend a hand to their repeal. The concern is particularly focused on the Yashar! party and candidates who have previously expressed support for some of the legislation. At the last meeting of bloc leaders, attended by Oded Forer, Shaul Meridor, Orit Farkash, Liran Avishar Ben-Horin, Gili Hausner, and Ram Shefa, concern was expressed that members of "certain lists" would block necessary legislation. The bloc is also preparing for a tie between blocs, aiming for the president to assign the mandate to their bloc, which would allow control of the Arrangements Committee and replacement of the Knesset Speaker within days. The teams agreed to map MKs' votes closer to the date to block pressure from Likud. It was recently reported that Likud has established a dedicated team to study the new candidates in the Change Bloc.
