Before the massive attack on refrigerators in Europe: Iranian hackers hit an Israeli supermarket chain
The cyberattack on supermarket refrigerators in Europe was carried out using a method already tested in Israel: Iranian hackers took control of the cooling systems of an Israeli food chain, causing compressor explosions and destroying merchandise. Experts warn that networks in Israel are still not prepared.
The cyberattack on supermarket refrigerators in Europe, which affected chains in Belgium, the Netherlands, and Sweden over the past weekend, was carried out using a method already tested in Israel several months ago. According to a report in Globes, Iranian hackers took control of the cooling systems of an Israeli food chain, causing compressor explosions and destroying merchandise. Omri Segev Moyal, CEO of the cybersecurity company Profero, said the attack was carried out by the group "Cyber Av3ngers," attributed to Iran's Revolutionary Guard, using AI tools. The hackers changed the target temperature, safety limits, and replaced access passwords. The retail chain was forced to order new compressors that arrived only a week and a half later. Experts assess that food chains in Israel are still not prepared for another attack.
