The decision was made following petitions filed by the Bereaved Families Forum "Choosing Life" and the Otzma Yehudit party, which alleged ties between Ra'am and terrorist elements through the "Siu'ah 48" association. The petitioners presented an investigation and a report from the Registrar of Associations. Minister Itamar Ben Gvir called Ra'am's chairman "a wolf in sheep's clothing" and linked him to the Muslim Brotherhood. However, the decision has no final validity without High Court approval. The prevailing assessment in the political and legal system is that the Supreme Court will overturn the decision, in light of past rulings that allowed parties to run despite similar claims.
