Itzik Barashi, a veteran and highly regarded director in the news division of the Kan public broadcasting corporation, was killed this morning (Saturday, September 19) in a bicycle accident on Highway 44, near the Nesharim interchange. Barashi joined the corporation in 2018 and accompanied Kan News broadcasts during routine times and war. News anchor Ayala Hasson eulogized him in a post on X (formerly Twitter), writing: "We started this day with bitter news. Itzik Barashi, our beloved director from the news, was killed in a road accident while riding his bicycle." Hasson added that Barashi was supposed to work with her today as well, and described him as "a family man, a devoted father, an excellent professional, and most importantly a good person, a friend." Kan News stated: "Kan News mourns the death of our friend, Itzik Barashi, a respected director in the news division." Barashi is survived by his wife Shirly and their three children, Keren, Ro'i, and Itai.
