Amit Segal: "The truth about the hostages is coming to light"
Commentator Amit Segal revealed statements by US envoy Brett McGurk, according to which military pressure on Hamas was the only factor that made hostage deals possible, contrary to claims that military action caused their deaths. Segal criticized the media for not covering these remarks.
Political commentator Amit Segal revealed statements by the US envoy to the Middle East, Brett McGurk, that contradict widespread claims regarding the management of the war in Gaza. According to Segal, McGurk determined that the military pressure exerted by Israel did not cause the deaths of hostages, but was the sole factor that enabled the deals for their return. The senior American official explained that without the use of force, Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar would never have released anyone, even if it took a decade. Segal addressed the claim that the six hostages murdered in Rafah died because of IDF activity in the area, and noted that McGurk clarified that Sinwar had no intention of releasing them. Regarding the American opposition to the entry into Rafah, Segal presented a different angle: the opposition stemmed from the fact that President Biden began paying a political price for the continuation of the war. Segal criticized the media and noted that he heard McGurk say similar things in Washington about two years ago in the presence of other journalists, but no one reported on it because the truth was inconvenient. He recommended that the public question the information conveyed to them.
