In the name of incitement against the Haredim: Channel 12's embarrassing 'exposure'
Channel 12 reporter Eli Hirsman presented footage of Rabbi Dov Landau as a new 'exposure' during the main evening broadcast, but the footage was published on the Kikar HaShabbat website as early as February 2025. The channel gave the old material a dramatic packaging under the title 'Unprecedented attack,' in the midst of the election campaign. Politicians from the left responded to the publication, including Gadi Eisenkot, Avigdor Lieberman, and Yair Lapid.
Channel 12's Haredi affairs reporter, Eli Hirsman, published sharp remarks made by Rabbi Dov Landau during the main evening broadcast (Monday) and presented them as rare newly uncovered footage—but the material had already been published long ago. The full transcript of the conversation was published on the Haredi website Kikar HaShabbat as early as February 7, 2025, along with footage of the meeting and the full context in which the remarks were made. Additionally, the same clip was already distributed in May on another channel. Despite this, Channel 12 gave the old material a new and dramatic packaging under the title 'Exposure: Haredi community leader in an unprecedented attack.' The publication did not clarify to viewers that the conversation had already been published in full over a year and a half ago. The conversation took place during a meeting of Rabbi Landau with rabbis of the 'Lev Shomea' organization, who approached him with questions regarding yeshiva students during the war. In the midst of the election campaign, it seems Channel 12 chose to pull old statements from the archive, wrap them in an 'exposure' headline, and reignite a conflict between the Haredi public and the religious-Zionist public. Politicians from the left bloc rushed to respond to the publication. Gadi Eisenkot wrote: 'Anti-Zionism personified.' Avigdor Lieberman wrote: 'They know how to take money from the state.' Opposition leader Yair Lapid responded: 'A disgrace to every Jew.'
