Already using the new Siri? The countries that will continue to envy you

Apple is deliberately delaying the launch of Siri AI in the European Union as a pressure tactic on Brussels regulators. In Israel, the service is available in English on compatible devices. Analysts expect a future compromise.

Apple is deliberately delaying the launch of the smart voice assistant Siri AI in European Union countries for many months, as part of a pressure tactic on regulators in Brussels. According to a report by Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the delay stems from a battle against the Digital Markets Act (DMA), not a technological limitation. While in Europe the feature is unavailable on iPhone and iPad (but available on Mac), in Israel users are not subject to the regulation and enjoy direct access to the system, provided they have supporting hardware and switch their device language to English. The upgraded version is based on large language models, manages fluent dialogue, and understands personal contexts from messages and photos. The European market accounts for about a third of Apple's sales, and analysts estimate the sides will reach a pragmatic compromise, similar to previous battles over USB-C and app stores.
