Al-Qarouti to "Filastin": The occupation uses a complete settlement system to control the West Bank

Legal researcher Bashar al-Qarouti confirms that the Israeli occupation uses a complete settlement system including building units, land confiscation, road construction, and establishing outposts, aiming to control the West Bank and create new facts on the ground, especially since the outbreak of the war in October 2023.

Legal researcher and activist Bashar al-Qarouti, in his interview with the newspaper "Filastin", confirms that the Israeli occupation and its settler groups and security arms are using a complete settlement system to control the lands of the occupied West Bank. The system includes building settlement units, confiscating land, constructing new roads, and establishing small outposts that later turn into large settlements. Al-Qarouti points out that since the outbreak of the war on October 7, 2023, settlement has moved to a more dangerous stage to impose facts on the ground. The occupation focuses on dangerous projects, most notably the E1 project east of occupied Jerusalem, due to its impact on the geographical connection between Jerusalem and other West Bank cities. Al-Qarouti explains that the main goal is to create new facts that make Israeli control over the largest possible area a reality, through control over land, roads, water sources, and high areas. He adds that the pace of declaring lands as "state lands" has increased after the war, and 2024 witnessed unprecedented levels. The settlement expansion is reflected on Palestinians through farmers losing their lands, villages being besieged by roads and gates, and weakening the Palestinian presence. Al-Qarouti confirms that the confrontation begins with documenting attacks, supporting farmers' steadfastness, and bringing the issue to international institutions.
