In the past, after the company suspended its flights to Israel, passengers to India had to rely mainly on flights via Gulf states or connections in Europe. Delhi also serves as a major transit point for onward flights across East Asia. Since October 7, Air India has repeatedly suspended and resumed its operations in Israel: it resumed the route in March 2024, suspended it again in April and resumed in May, stopped once more in August 2024, and returned to Israel in March 2025. In May 2025, after the Houthi missile strike near Ben Gurion Airport, it halted flights again—and has not resumed regular operations since.
