After years of neglect: the association that will try to rehabilitate the station compound in Jerusalem

The "Social Space" association is taking over the operation of the First Station compound in Jerusalem, after years of neglect and business closures. The association officially announced the completion of negotiations, promising a "new chapter" for the compound. Among the challenges: operation on weekends, which the association says it is working on.

The "Social Space" association, which specializes in transforming abandoned buildings into hubs of social and cultural activity, is taking over the operation of the First Station compound in Jerusalem. This move comes after years of neglect, during which businesses closed one after another, partly due to infrastructure work by Israel Railways and the light rail. The association officially announced the completion of negotiations, following a previous publication in "Hayom" that revealed the intention. In a video on social media, the association presented its vision for a "new chapter" including content, culture, and community, and called on the public to suggest ideas. One recurring request is regular weekend operation, and the association responded that it is working on it. City council member Ariel Biziz welcomed the move, defining the compound as an "important lung" for the Zionist public.
