American tech giants Amazon and Google have begun moving their regional operations from Dubai to Istanbul, amid growing security concerns over the war with Iran and attacks on the UAE. According to a report on the Turkish economic website "Ekonomim," Amazon has already transferred a significant portion of its operations to Turkey, following the launch of its local cloud region in Istanbul last May. Google is preparing for a similar move, following an announcement of a new cloud region in partnership with Turkcell, as part of a two-billion-dollar investment plan over a decade. The trend is not limited to American companies: companies from Japan, China, and India are also considering Istanbul as an alternative, and some have begun transferring management teams and experts. The Turkish government is offering extensive tax incentives, including a full exemption from tax on profits from international operations for 20 years for companies that manage their operations from Istanbul's financial center, and a 95% exemption for others. The implications are already being felt: at an energy and electricity exhibition in Dubai, many global companies refrained from sending senior executives.
