On the evening of September 18, a woman's body was found in East Jerusalem; the identity has not been officially confirmed, and the body has been sent for identification. According to preliminary findings, the suspect kidnapped the woman, brought her to his home, and killed her with a sharp object. Afterward, several people took the suspect and demanded he tell what happened; the information obtained was passed to police. Officers from the Shalem and Oz stations arrested the suspect—a man around 60 years old. On Saturday, September 19, he will be brought to the Jerusalem Magistrate's Court for a remand extension. Hundreds of volunteers and large police forces participated in the search. The victim's son criticized the police, stating that serious searches began too late and that the response would have been different if the missing person were Jewish. Shalem station commander Lieutenant Colonel Shalom Cohen rejected the accusations, saying the investigation was conducted from the first moment and the victim's background did not matter.
