The Colombian government announced its withdrawal from The Hague Group, an anti-Israel bloc of nations. The move comes after the inauguration of Colombia's embassy in Jerusalem this week. The Colombian government announced its withdrawal from The Hague Group, a bloc of nations established in January 2025 with the aim of holding Israel accountable regarding the situation in the Gaza Strip. Colombia, a founding member of the group, is withdrawing both as a member and as a co-chair. Colombian Foreign Minister Omar Bula Escobar explained the withdrawal by stating that the group was intended to isolate and attack Israel. The step comes days after the inauguration of Colombia's embassy in Jerusalem, attended by the foreign ministers of Colombia and Israel. Colombia also withdrew its intervention in the lawsuit against Israel at the International Court of Justice in The Hague, recognized Israel's sovereignty over the Golan Heights, and canceled the previous president's declaration to annul the free trade agreement. These moves follow the election of President Abelardo de la Espriella and the renewal of diplomatic relations with Israel. Bolivia and Honduras have also previously withdrawn from the group.
