A new way to extricate Israel from the political quagmire
Alex Kushnir, CEO of the Strategic Institute for the Future of Israel, proposes a new way to extricate Israel from the political quagmire by changing the system of government. He presents the Basic Law: ShMS (Change of Government Structure), which includes a public process and Israel's first referendum.
Alex Kushnir, CEO of the Strategic Institute for the Future of Israel and former chairman of the Knesset Finance Committee, argues that Israel's system of government is no longer suitable for the current reality, nearly 80 years after the state's establishment. According to him, society, the economy, demographics, and threats have changed, but the system has remained behind, causing systemic paralysis, social polarization, and a dangerous collision course. He presents the Basic Law: ShMS (Change of Government Structure) – a practical outline for changing the system of government, including a first-of-its-kind public process with citizen and professional involvement, to be decided by a referendum. Kushnir calls for the establishment of a 'coalition of yes' that will focus on launching the national, professional, and democratic process, instead of continuing internal wars and endless paralysis.
