David Heller has been appointed chairman of the Jewish Agency Board of Governors, replacing Mark Wilf who is concluding four years of service. Heller, a senior leader in American Jewry, will work to strengthen ties with the Diaspora and rehabilitate communities in the north and south. The Board of Governors, composed of Jewish community leaders from around the world, is the body that determines the organization's policy. Heller said he accepts the responsibility at a time when the partnership between Israel and Jewish communities worldwide is essential for the shared future. Heller has held key roles in philanthropic and public bodies, including chairman of the national campaign of the Jewish Federations of North America and chairman of the Jewish Federation of Cleveland. In 2009, the U.S. president appointed him to the United States Holocaust Memorial Council. Concurrently, he is president, CEO, and co-founder of the development company The NRP Group. The appointment comes amid the Agency's efforts to rehabilitate Israel and promote strategic projects in the north and south following October 7, and to strengthen the resilience of Jewish communities against the surge in antisemitism.
