6,000 vehicles a day: How much do the 'fast lanes' on the Ayalon save?

The 'fast lanes' project on the Ayalon Highway, launched about six months ago with an investment of 8 billion shekels, reveals usage data: 9,800 daily passengers in Shefayim and 4,400 in Rishon LeZion, with a savings of 40 minutes per direction.

The 'fast lanes' project on the Ayalon Highway, launched about six months ago with an investment of 8 billion shekels, has published initial usage data. Every day, approximately 9,800 passengers board the shuttle from Shefayim to Tel Aviv, and 4,200 vehicles park in the parking lot. In the southern section, from Rishon LeZion to Tel Aviv, which opened less than a month ago, about 4,400 passengers board the shuttle daily, with 2,000 parked cars. In total, more than 6,000 vehicles a day are taken off the road. The shuttle saves 40 minutes per direction, meaning more than six hours per week for daily commuters. The project is operated by Dan Paths, and later, at the beginning of 2027, a free ride is expected for vehicles with three or more passengers, and the road will become a toll road.
