24 diplomatic meetings, including with European powers: Iran's achievement at the UN

Iran's diplomatic achievement stands in contrast to Israel's relative isolation, but alongside it, the American economic pressure on Tehran is increasing.

While Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's visit to the UN General Assembly this week was characterized by relatively few diplomatic meetings, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi recorded a significant diplomatic achievement with 24 political meetings. Araghchi met with EU Foreign Minister Kaja Kallas and his counterparts from Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Poland, Russia, and Ukraine. The highlight was the meeting with US President Donald Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, where Araghchi placed a new proposal on the negotiating table. However, it was reported that Trump rejected the proposal. Alongside the diplomatic achievements, American economic pressure on Iran is increasing: Iranian airlines have been cut off from vital regional routes, and the country's leading commercial bank has refrained from conducting transactions in the UAE and Turkey. Attorney Nigel Kushner, a sanctions expert, said he has never seen such great pressure on Iran's banking and aviation sectors. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian acknowledged that the sanctions are a problem but claimed they will achieve the opposite result.
