13-year-old Ariel killed in the Krayot: "They said a boy was chasing him, he tried to flee and was hit by a car on the road"

Ariel Sofer Mahraz, 13, from Kiryat Ata, was killed last night by a vehicle at the Tzabar Junction in the Krayot. According to his mother's account, Ariel went out with friends to the Kiryon mall in Kiryat Bialik. Friends said a boy tried to chase him; Ariel tried to escape, ran onto the road, and was critically hit by a car. He was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where his death was determined.

Ariel Sofer Mahraz, 13, from Kiryat Ata, was killed last night (Wednesday) by a vehicle at the Tzabar Junction in the Krayot, on the Acre-Haifa road. Ariel, an 8th-grade student at Rogozin A School in Kiryat Ata, went out with friends to the Kiryon mall in Kiryat Bialik. According to his mother Chofit's account, friends said a boy tried to chase Ariel. In an attempt to escape, Ariel ran onto the road and was critically hit by a car. The injury was very severe, and despite resuscitation efforts by MDA medics and paramedics, he was taken to Rambam Hospital in Haifa, where medical teams were forced to determine his death. The mother described Ariel as a smiling, kind-hearted boy who loved martial arts. Only last March he celebrated his bar mitzvah. Ariel has an older brother, Eyal, 16. The report of the injury was received at the MDA Carmel district dispatch center at 11:10 PM.
