The Jerusalem Governorate reported that 11,409 settlers stormed the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque during the Jewish holiday season, from the Hebrew New Year until the end of the incursions on Thursday, October 1, 2026. The governorate stated that the incursions witnessed a clear escalation in the number of intruders, religious rituals, and occupation measures inside and around the mosque. It noted that 593 settlers stormed the mosque on September 13 during the Hebrew New Year, and 1,678 settlers during the two days of Yom Kippur on September 20 and 21. During the first five days of the Sukkot holiday, between September 27 and October 1, the number of intruders reached 9,138 settlers. The governorate indicated that the incursions were accompanied by public religious rituals and prayers, including prostration, hymns, dancing, singing, applause, and blowing the shofar, along with carrying prayer books and wearing religious clothing. It also documented the participation of Israeli ministers, rabbis, and political figures in these rituals, coinciding with tightened restrictions on the entry of Palestinian worshippers to the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The governorate affirmed that what is happening represents an escalation targeting its Islamic identity and its historical and legal status.
