Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday evening that he feels betrayed by the conduct of US President Donald Trump. Trump said over the weekend that Ukraine should elect a new president, and agreed to remove sanctions on diesel exports from Russia. In an interview on Piers Morgan's program, "Piers Morgan Uncensored," Zelensky sharply criticized Trump, saying he feels the American president is choosing the Russian side in the war. "I have no problem with Trump being in the middle, between Ukraine and Russia. But if you are in the middle, you need to stay in the middle," Zelensky said. He added, "It's a shame we are losing a strong partner." Trump's move to remove sanctions on Russian diesel was intended to increase fuel supply on the global market and help curb rising prices, but it sparked outrage in Ukraine and among its European allies. Meanwhile, Trump personally attacked Zelensky, accusing him of responsibility for rising diesel prices due to Ukrainian attacks on oil facilities in Russia, and called for Ukraine to elect a new leader. The sharp confrontation also comes against the backdrop of new claims by senior Ukrainian officials that sudden restrictions have been imposed on military use of the Starlink satellite network, hampering the ability to operate drones. Additionally, Zelensky and other senior officials in Kyiv claimed that Ukraine has in some cases not received early intelligence warnings about Russian ballistic missile launches. A US official denied any change in intelligence-sharing policy.
