"You young women are looking for young seed": The storm in the US - and the immediate demand to resign
An investigative report determined that New Jersey Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell violated ethics rules, including by attempting to promote an employee with whom he had a romantic relationship. Governor Mikey Sherrill called for his immediate resignation. Caldwell denies everything.
New Jersey Governor Mikey Sherrill called for Lieutenant Governor Dale Caldwell to resign immediately, following an investigative report that found he violated ethics rules. The report, published on Wednesday, found that Caldwell tried to hit on a colleague's wife, and when rejected told the employee: "You young women are looking for young seed." Additionally, he attempted to promote a state employee with whom he had a romantic relationship, sending an email to a senior official recommending his partner for promotion. Caldwell's attorney, Thomas Calcagni, dismissed the allegations and called the investigation one-sided. Caldwell, a Methodist minister, flatly denies saying the remarks. Governor Sherrill said the ethical failures continued despite multiple warnings and training, and that his resignation is in the best interest of New Jersey residents.
