Former minister and bereaved father Yizhar Shai expressed disappointment with the election results and proposed a framework for establishing an interim government led by Benjamin Netanyahu, with the participation of Gadi Eisenkot and Naftali Bennett, on condition that a state commission of inquiry is established and a conscription law is enacted.
Former minister Yizhar Shai, father of the late Sergeant Yaron Uri Shai, expressed disappointment with the results of the elections for the 26th Knesset and proposed a framework for establishing an interim government led by Benjamin Netanyahu. In an interview with Radio 103FM, Shai said he would be willing to support such a government for a period of one to one and a half years, on condition that a state commission of inquiry into the events of October 7 is established and a conscription law is enacted. According to the framework he presented, Gadi Eisenkot would be appointed Minister of Defense and Naftali Bennett Minister of Foreign Affairs. Shai emphasized the importance of establishing the commission of inquiry "not to punish but to draw conclusions," and proposed involving bereaved parents in the process of appointing its members. He accused Netanyahu of violating political agreements but clarified that he is willing to consider limited cooperation with him.
