Without laws: Will the judicial overhaul be canceled?
The leaders of the Change Bloc announced they would cancel at least three major laws from the judicial overhaul promoted by the Netanyahu government, including changes to the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee and the law weakening legal counsel. However, it is unclear when the laws will be canceled, due to the composition of the Knesset and the possibility of further elections.
The leaders of the Change Bloc announced their intention to cancel at least three major laws promoted by the Netanyahu government in the previous Knesset, as part of the judicial overhaul of Justice Minister Yariv Levin. The laws include changes to the composition of the Judicial Selection Committee, the law weakening legal counsel to the government, and the Police Internal Investigations Department law. In about ten days, the 26th Knesset will be sworn in, and with its formation, some of the laws will take effect. However, it is unclear whether a new government will be formed or whether Israel will go to further elections. Meanwhile, some of the laws face petitions to the High Court of Justice, and the judges may wait for the new legislators' decision before issuing a ruling.
