"Whose national?": The bereaved father's attack after the ceremony in Yarkon Park

Yossi Cohen, a bereaved father and member of the "Din VeTzedek" forum, attacked the organizers of the national memorial ceremony for the Nova massacre victims, claiming they excluded the forum's representatives for political reasons. In an interview, he accused the organizers of politically exploiting bereavement, called on Netanyahu to establish a national commission of inquiry, and revealed a defamation lawsuit the forum filed against Channel 13 and Eyal Berkovic.

Yossi Cohen, the father of Amit Cohen who was murdered at the Nova party and a member of the "Din VeTzedek" forum, sharply attacked the organizers of the national memorial ceremony held in Yarkon Park. In an interview with the program "Yoman Tzohorayim" with Iddo Tauber, Cohen claimed that representatives of the forum, which includes about 200 bereaved families, were excluded from the ceremony for political reasons. "Whose national? What is national about Yair Lapid?" Cohen wondered, criticizing the opposition leader who was absent from the state ceremony. Cohen accused the organizers of using bereavement for political purposes: "They take the blood of our children, they take them to generate hatred, to divide." He called on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to establish a national commission of inquiry, and claimed that entities involved in the protest against the government before October 7, including "Koach Kaplan" and "Brothers in Arms," are behind the ceremony's funding. Cohen revealed that the forum filed a defamation lawsuit against Channel 13 and Eyal Berkovic following a claim that forum members are Likud emissaries. Alongside the criticism, Cohen praised the ceremony itself and the words of President Isaac Herzog, which he described as substantive and without political insinuations.
