A 40-year-old man from Brazil was killed after his father's grave collapsed beneath him while he was sitting on it on his way to a friend's funeral. The incident occurred at the Linhares cemetery. Authorities have opened an investigation.

A 40-year-old man from Brazil met his death in a rare tragedy at the São José municipal cemetery in Linhares, Espírito Santo state. The man had come to the funeral of a friend who was killed in a car accident the previous day, and stopped to place flowers on his father's grave. When he sat on the tombstone, the structure collapsed under his weight and he fell into the pit. Bystanders tried to rescue him, but he lay lifeless. Emergency crews pronounced him dead at the scene. The municipality issued a condolence message and clarified that maintenance of graves is the responsibility of families.
