"War on the way": Testimonies from Iran on the Revolutionary Guards' preparations
Iranian citizens tell N12 about the Revolutionary Guards' preparations for renewed fighting: evacuation of bases, transfer of weapons, call-up of Basij members, and an increase in executions. They call on Trump to act against the regime and hope that war will lead to protest.
Iranian citizens living in Mashhad and Tehran tell N12 in conversations about the Revolutionary Guards' preparations for renewed fighting against Israel. Alireza from Mashhad describes the evacuation of bases, the transfer of military equipment to western Iran, the call-up of Basij members, and an increase in checkpoints in cities. Amirhossein from Tehran adds that he heard about the evacuation of apartments of military and Revolutionary Guards personnel from bases inside cities, for fear that weapons would fall into the hands of the public. According to him, the Revolutionary Guards are paying Basij members to take to the streets with their families and wave regime flags, to show they have support. Both citizens report an increase in executions, which they say have become routine, and that the public has broken the barrier of fear. They send a message to US President Donald Trump: "Uproot the rule of the ayatollahs and the Revolutionary Guards." They hope that war will prepare the ground for renewed protest, but note that taking to the streets depends on the support they receive and the conditions on the ground.
