Shots fired in Lod during Smotrich's conference: "A threat to national security"

The minister addressed the incident and presented a broad plan to combat illegal weapons in the Arab sector. Smotrich told residents that according to Shin Bet data, there are one million weapons in the Arab home front, and defined this as 'THE threat to national security.' He emphasized that the phenomenon could evolve from criminal to nationalist. The minister announced his intention to advance a national emergency order with exceptional tools, which will include defining illegal weapons possession as terrorism, involving the Shin Bet, using administrative detentions, enacting evidentiary presumptions and minimum sentences, and economically strangling crime organizations.
