Want to connect to WhatsApp without opening an account? Now it's really possible

WhatsApp has officially launched the 'Guest Calling' feature, allowing users to join voice and video calls through a computer browser without an account or registration. The calls are end-to-end encrypted, have no time limit, and support up to 32 participants. Guests join via a dedicated link and wait for the host's approval in a waiting room.

WhatsApp, owned by Meta, has officially launched the 'Guest Calling' feature for all users worldwide. The innovation allows anyone to join a voice or video call directly through a computer web browser, even without a WhatsApp account or registered phone number. This launch poses a competitive threat to Zoom and Microsoft Teams, as the calls are offered completely free and without time limits, unlike Zoom's free accounts limited to 40 minutes. All calls are end-to-end encrypted by default. The joining process is simple: the host generates a dedicated link and distributes it; the guest enters the link via the browser, types their first name, and waits for manual approval from the host in a waiting room. Guests enjoy full screen sharing, the ability to 'raise hand', and emoji reactions, but cannot send text messages or invite additional participants. Later this year, integration with Google Calendar and Outlook is expected.
