Uzi Rabi assesses: The window of opportunity Trump may exploit against Iran
Prof. Uzi Rabi assesses that a 60-90 day window of opportunity for action against Iran has opened before Trump, identifying three clocks: operational, electoral, and strategic. He questions whether Trump will settle for a declaration of victory or choose a deeper attack, and expresses skepticism about a diplomatic solution.
Prof. Uzi Rabi, a Middle East expert, assesses that a 60- to 90-day window of opportunity for action against Iran has opened before U.S. President Donald Trump. In an interview with 103FM, Rabi identifies three 'clocks' ticking toward a possible confrontation: the operational clock, where preparations are complete; the electoral clock, after the elections in Israel and ahead of the U.S. elections; and the strategic clock, where it is not yet clear whether Trump will settle for a declaration of victory or choose a deeper attack. Rabi refers to reports of diplomatic efforts by Qatar and Gulf states, but expresses skepticism about the Iranian leadership's willingness to give up the nuclear program. He notes that a letter sent by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance to Iranian National Security Advisor Mohsen Rezaei carries a 'take it or leave it' message. According to Rabi, Trump is not an ordinary president and will want to leave a real mark, so he will find it difficult to sell a partial victory. He describes the cooperation between Trump and Israel so far as 'a strong blow to the Iranian nuclear program and a slaughter of the leadership,' and calls for continuing the mission.
