Reports alleged Guilfoyle asked Trump donor Eric Deters to pay a $100,000 credit card bill in July 2025, days before her Senate confirmation hearing, in exchange for helping him gain access to senior Trump administration officials. Additional allegations include using her diplomatic position to promote private business interests, facilitating lobbying access for a Greek energy company, accepting lavish gifts, and fostering a hostile work environment. Guilfoyle's attorneys rejected the allegations, maintaining the money sought was payment for services predating her nomination. A senior administration official told the Associated Press that both Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio were extremely angry over the allegations. Trump publicly expressed dissatisfaction, saying the administration was looking at the matter.
