Upheaval in the Middle East: Qatar's new alliance sets out
A senior Qatari official announced a new regional security partnership focusing on air defense, drones, and cyber, following the Iranian attacks. The identity of the participating countries has not yet been revealed. Qatar continues to cooperate with the US and calls for dialogue with Iran.
Qatar is preparing to announce a new regional security partnership focusing on air defense, drones, and cyber, following the Iranian attacks and damage to its infrastructure. This was reported by a senior Qatari official at a conference, who refrained from revealing which countries would join the initiative at this stage. The announcement comes against the backdrop of a shift in the security perception of Gulf states after the war between the United States and Israel and Iran. In March, the Al-Udeid base, where American forces are stationed, was attacked, and the Ras Laffan gas facility was damaged during the conflict. The official emphasized that more than 90% of the attacks were thwarted thanks to cooperation with the United States, and called for continued dialogue with Iran while preserving Qatar's right to defend its territory.
