Shilo Atton, a high school student from the US, discovered an ancient Egyptian amulet approximately 3,300 years old at Tel Gezer, just two days after landing in Israel. Atton, who was on his first school trip in the country, noticed a small object on the ground and consulted his guide. According to Prof. Koch, the amulet features two cobra snakes above a semi-oval shape, a royal symbol and a symbol of protection in ancient Egypt. A similar amulet with three snakes was previously discovered at Tel Megiddo. Tel Gezer was an important Canaanite and Egyptian city. The Israel Antiquities Authority praised the student and the school team for reporting and transferring the find to the state's treasures, reminding of the duty to report archaeological finds.
