The accident occurred last Thursday (September 24) around 10:00 AM in the Hesperia area of San Bernardino County. The aircraft, a single-engine Aeronca Champion, crashed in an open area. Emergency crews pronounced both occupants dead at the scene. A woman was also killed alongside Kapulnik. The circumstances of the crash are being investigated by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB). Kapulnik, a former resident of Karmei Yosef who lived in Los Angeles, had an extraordinary career: he served as an officer in the elite Unit 669 rescue unit, earned a degree in information systems from the Technion, and studied acting at the Nissan Nativ studio in Jerusalem. In Israel, he acted in the films "Lebanon," "Room 514," "Salsa Tel Aviv," and "Keep Me," and later appeared in film, television, and theater productions in the United States. In recent years, he was certified as a flight instructor and trained many students. His funeral will be held tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4:30 PM at the Karmei Yosef cemetery.
