A heavy tragedy in the Philippines: two students, a 7-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy, were killed in a fatal electrocution incident that occurred during a foam party at the Cauayan South Central School campus in Cauayan City. The incident took place during a bubble and foam party held at the conclusion of a school fun run, which involved more than 1,000 students and parents. The race started at 4:00 AM, and around 6:20 AM, as participants returned to the campus and joined the foam celebration, the failure occurred. Witnesses reported an unusual buzzing sound from the power source, and then saw children lying motionless in the foam. Medical teams performed resuscitation efforts, but their deaths were pronounced at the hospital. A 9-year-old boy with burns on his hands was released to his home, and a 6-year-old boy remained hospitalized. A preliminary investigation suggests a short circuit or current leakage from the foam machine, combined with water on the ground. Police confiscated the bubble machine and cables to check for faulty wiring or improper grounding. The Philippine Ministry of Education has opened a separate investigation into safety arrangements.
